It’s been a while since I’ve made a cake, so a few days ago I finally decided it was time to get back into it. Once I started there was no stopping, I ended up making two cakes!

  • Oil – canola oil, refined oil, sunflower oil or vegetable oil can be used.
  • Milk – use whole milk for a better texture. You can also use soy or almond milk.
  • Plain flour – I used all purpose flour, you can also use whole wheat flour.
  • Baking powder – baking powder is the leavening agent in this recipe.
  • Cocoa – Try to use the best quality cocoa powder you can find which makes the best chocolate cake recipe.

Step by step photos

1) Preheat oven to 180 degrees C (360 degrees F). Line the bottom of an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper. Grease the sides of the cake pan with a little oil or butter. Cancel.

2) Take the egg, sugar and vanilla in a bowl and use a hand whisk to whisk until frothy.

3) This will take approximately 2-3 minutes.

4) Pour the oil over the eggs and mix well. Instead of oil, you can use melted butter.

6) Pour in the milk. I used whole milk, you can use almond milk, soy milk or oat milk.

7) Whisk everything together to form a mixture.

8)Place a sieve over the bowl. Add the plain flour.

9) Add the cocoa powder and baking powder.

10) Sift it together.

11) Fold gently to form a smooth dough.

12) Pour the batter into the cake mold. Distribute evenly.

13) Garnish with chocolate chips or nuts of your choice.

14)Place the tray in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Remove the cake pan from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.

Invert it onto a plate, sprinkle with icing sugar or decorate with the icing of your choice. cut into pieces and serve.
