If you’re looking for incredibly fun things to do in London, the Mamma Mia party at the O2 should be number one. Whether you’re a die-hard ABBA fan or simply looking for unique experiences in London, this immersive experience takes you straight to a Greek taverna for an evening filled with food, music and, of course, dancing!

I had the pleasure of attending the fifth anniversary gala evening. With 100% confidence, I think this is one of the most entertaining evenings you will find in London if you like concerts and/or theater. It really lives up to its name- THE Party!

Based on my experience, I will share with you everything you need to know before booking your Mamma Mia party tickets as you finish planning your trip to London. We’ll go over seating tips on what to wear and everything in between.

Mama Mia! The Party Tickets in London

Mama Mia! the Party is located at the O2, one of London’s largest concert venues. When researching your possible dates to purchase tickets, check to see if any major concerts are happening on the same night. This may affect your overall experience with larger crowds.

The night begins around 7 p.m. While the official show ended for us around 10:15 p.m., the party continued until late at night during the Gala evening that I attended.

You’ll want to stay and dance to ABBA’s iconic hits after the show, so plan to be there for the long haul. If you’re visiting London, don’t plan anything too early the next day. You will want to rest after this energetic evening.

Regarding seating, if I could attend again, I would opt for a table in the courtyard on the ground floor. These are the most expensive seats, but they offer the best views of the action. Naturally.

However, no single seat provides a complete view of the entire experience since the action takes place throughout the space. The nature of the show means you will be seated with other guests unless you book as a group of 4, 6 or 8 people, depending on your ticket level.

For small groups or couples, expect to share a table with others. Just consider it part of the Mamma Mia party experience.

What to wear to the party

The moment you enter the “Taverna” you will feel as if you have been transported to Greece, with the warmth and decor to match. I highly suggest wearing diapers.

It can be very hot inside. You’ll also want to prepare for times when everyone gets up to dance. Consider Greek print summer dresses, disco-themed outfits, or even jeans if you prefer a more casual look.

I saw people wearing sequins, floral designs, bright headbands and evening dresses. The most important item you will need is your dance shoes!

The experience

This is no ordinary dinner show. The Mamma Mia Party is a fully immersive experience in London. It features an intricately designed set that resembles a bustling Greek tavern. The show transforms into a concert-like event from the final act.

Because you won’t want to miss a minute of the action, you’ll need to give yourself plenty of time to get there. The O2 is huge! You can actually climb the O2 as a separate activity in London. Finding the exact show location may take longer than expected. You should allow at least an additional 20 minutes to do this once you arrive at the O2.

The show itself is loud, lively and full of surprises. There are strobe lights, upbeat choreography and jaw-dropping moments that will make you feel like you’re at an ABBA concert in the Mediterranean.

The cast is exceptional and their enthusiasm is unmatched. You will be singing and dancing for a few minutes after the opening number.

The only downside? The O2 is quite far from central London. Factor in extra travel time if you’re staying in central London. But once you arrive, it’s worth it for an immersive escape from the normal pace and ambiance of London life.

Food and drinks at Mamma Mia! The party

Food plays a central role in the Mamma Mia party experience. After all, the show takes place at the “Nikos Taverna”, where you will be treated to a sharing feast.

The menu is designed to bring the flavors of Greece to your table, starting with traditional Greek mezze. Bread, dips and olives will be served immediately, followed by Greek salad and spanakopita.

The main course is a platter of braised lamb stifado, slow-cooked beef, pomegranate tabbouleh and a rich red wine jus. Personally, I was gutted from the one slice of beef that our table unfortunately couldn’t finish. It felt amazing melting in your mouth!

The food is served family style. This encourages everyone at your table to share. If you are vegetarian or vegan, there are options for you too. The vegetarian main course is potato and eggplant moussaka. Servers checked food preferences and allergies several times throughout the evening, making sure everyone was well taken care of.

As for dessert, expect something sweet and traditionally Greek to end your meal. And don’t be surprised when the waiters start singing and dancing too. It’s all part of the Mamma Mia party experience!
