With so many different types and models to choose from, how do you know which air curtain model is the best for your business? Don’t worry, as the experts at Direct Air Curtains put this helpful guide together! Let us help you decide which models of air curtains are most suitable for which type of commercial space.
C-Series air curtain model
The C-series air curtain is there for when the space above a door is tight. The air curtain design means that its mounting height is up to 2.75 metres. It is also available in three different lengths, including 1 metre, 1.5 metres, and 2 metres. The 2- metre unit is also the most powerful. The air curtain units can be combined together to widen the effective airstream span.
Where does the C-series belong?
with its compact and space-saving design, the C-series air curtain can fit into most surroundings and commercial or retail spaces. However, power limitations on this model mean that the best spaces would optimally be not more than 2.75 metres off the ground. Commercial spaces such as bakeries or small restaurants are ideal. This means that places like warehouses or loading bays are not ideal. Places like that tend to have a larger ground clearance than 2.75 metres, making this air curtain ineffective if installed.
T-series air curtain model
The T-series air curtain is the industry standard when it comes to covering larger spans of commercial spaces. Wider and more powerful than the c-series, the T series model air curtain is also energy efficient. This means it provides optimal airflow for affordable prices. Available in three sizes, just like the C-series, the T-series is available in 1, 1.5 or 2 metres spans. It can be mounted up to 3 metres off the ground, providing higher airflow in order to keep the entryway protected.
Where does the T-series belong?
Available in both surface mount and recessed mount, the T-series model design is versatile and can be installed in the ceiling for discreet air circulation. The best unit for industrial spaces, the T-series can be installed at a larger height than other air curtains. This means staying effective even at bigger distances off the ground, such as warehouse shutters or entryways.
The T-series also has a high heat output, warming up the air around the entryway, which benefits the doorway. The biggest advantage to this is the fact that winds and rain are blocked from entering. It also warms the air using a heating element, which can help maintain a specific climate inside if needed. The other benefit of the air curtain is that when installed in a warehouse entrance, will heat up and melt any ice that can accumulate on entry to the warehouse in the winter, which can be very dangerous when using heavy machinery such as a forklift.
PHV vertical mount model
When the air curtain install is not possible above a doorway, or if the ceiling clearance is too high, the vertical air curtain is the next best solution. The PHV vertical air curtain boasts a powerful airflow and a heat output of up to 24kW. The greatest strength of the vertical mount is that it stands on its side. This creates a side-to-side airstream on the doorway, instead of a top-to-bottom airflow. This means that the vertical air curtain succeeds where the horizontal one doesn’t, as it spreads a uniform airflow across a whole doorway, instead of having a powerful airflow at the top, and gradually weakening as it reaches the bottom.
Where does the PHV vertical air curtain belong?
The vertical mount air curtain’s powerful airflow and side-install design make this air curtain very versatile. This means its perfect for most shops and retail spaces. A great space for it would be an office, as offices usually have low ceilings, making above the door installation impossible. The benefit of the vertical air curtain is that the install is usually easier, however, this does come at a small cost, meaning that because the air curtain is free-standing, it will take up some retail space near the doorway.
HX-Series air curtain model
When looking for a higher performance air curtain, more than just standard, the HX series is here to provide that. One of the most advanced air curtain models, the HX series boasts an exceptionally powerful airflow, up to 2640 m3/h, making it possible to mount at a height of 3.5 metres.
where does the HX series belong?
The HX-series, with its extremely powerful airflow circulation, is the ultimate in performance and suited for tasks where normal air curtains fail. This makes it suitable for highly sensitive spaces such as hospital clean rooms. This air curtain model is also highly efficient, meaning it can perform round the clock without running up high energy bills.
