About chocolate with fruit and nuts

Chocolate with fruit and nuts is one of those treats that is never boring. I love how it packs so many textures and flavors into one bite. Smooth dark chocolate, crunchy nuts and chewy dried fruits provide little bursts of sweetness and acidity. Each piece is slightly different, and that’s what makes it so enjoyable.

I used my favorite dried fruits like apricots, cranberries, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, melon seeds, almonds and raisins. The chocolate I used is dark and it is decorated with fruits and nuts. I also added grated orange zest which adds a touch of fresh taste without being too overwhelming.

At Christmas, this fruit and nut chocolate becomes one of my favorite homemade gifts. I pour it into molds, break it into pieces, wrap it carefully and share with family, friends and neighbors. It’s a lovely edible gift that feels personal and festive, without being complicated.

I also like to keep a small batch in the freezer during the holiday season. A piece of this chocolate with a cup of tea or coffee is perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Chocolate – it can be totally to your liking. You can use dark, milk, or even semi-sweet chocolate. You can swap, depending on the sweetness you are looking for.

Dried fruits – You can use raisins, golden raisins, cranberries and dried apricots. Alternatively, you can also use candied mixed peels, dried blueberries and strawberries.

Nuts and seeds – a combo of almonds, cashews, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, melon seeds, sunflower seeds.

Orange Zest – a small amount of orange zest gives a wonderful flavor to the chocolate.

Coconut oil – a little oil helps make the chocolate bright, shiny and smooth.

Step by step photos

1) Prepare your nuts and dried fruits.

2) Take your chocolate mold. I used my large Dubai chocolate mold. Add nuts and dried fruits according to the pattern of your choice.

3) Take the chopped dark chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Add the coconut oil and put it in the microwave. Melt it on high heat for 10 seconds intervals. Remove every 10 seconds and stir so the chocolate melts evenly.

It will take about 30-40 seconds for the chocolate to be completely melted. Alternatively, you can melt them in a bain-marie.

4) Remove from the microwave and mix well so the chocolate is melted and smooth. Add the orange zest and mix well.

5)The chocolate is now ready to be poured over the dried fruits.

6)Now pour it over dry fruits and nuts.

7) Pat gently to distribute evenly. Place it in the refrigerator or freezer for 1 hour.

8)Now the chocolate is set.

9) Unmold and break the peels. Enjoy it as is or wrap it up and give it as a gift.
