Hidden Corners that Give Marylebone Character

Marylebone isn’t somewhere you visit because it has one world-famous attraction. And BTW- that would be Madame Tussaud’s- which is a HUGE NO from me.

One of my favourite stops is Daunt Books. Even if you’re not planning to buy anything, it’s worth stepping inside to admire the beautiful Edwardian interior with its oak galleries and long skylights. It feels like the set of a romantic comedy and is a great place to get true London souvenirs.

Just a few minutes away, you’ll find Marylebone High Street. Unlike Oxford Street, it isn’t about rushing between the biggest international brands. Instead, it’s lined with stylish independent shops, cafés and boutiques that invite you to browse rather than play Frogger around tourists and thieves on electric bikes after your phone.

One shop I love to visit is Fabriano. Even if you’re not an artist, it’s hard not to appreciate the beautiful notebooks, stationery and art supplies. It’s exactly the kind of independent shop that gives Marylebone its personality and allure.

And of course, there’s the Beatles store packed full of fun memorabilia.

Tucked just off Oxford Street is St Christopher’s Place, a pedestrianised courtyard that somehow still feels like one of central London’s best-kept secrets. Filled with restaurants, outdoor seating and colourful shopfronts, it’s the sort of place you almost accidentally discover before wondering why more people don’t know about it.
